Curriculum

At Learning Ladder Nurseries in JLT, we follow a carefully structured program to gently help every child learn in a safe, friendly, and enjoyable environment. We follow the British Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (EYFS) which is a professional framework from the UK.  We follow this framework as closely as possible keeping in mind the requirements of the UAE and KHDA.

The EYFS promotes teaching and learning to ensure children are ready for school, giving them the right foundation for good progress through school and life.

The diagram below shows the 7 areas of learning and development, which guide the teachers to tailor your child’s play and activities as they learn new skills and acquire knowledge. The focus is to

How will my child be Learning

The EYFS Framework explains how and what your child will be learning to support their healthy development.

Your child will be learning skills, acquiring new knowledge, and demonstrating their understanding through 7 areas of learning and development.

Children typically develop the following 3 prime areas first:

  • Communication and Language
  • Physical Development
  • Personal, social and emotional development

These prime areas are the most essential for your child’s healthy development and future learning. As children grow, the prime areas will help them to develop skills in 4 specific areas:

  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the World
  • Expressive arts and design

These 7 areas are used to plan your child’s learning and activities. Our teachers at Learning Ladder nurseries will make sure that the activities are suited to your child’s unique needs. It is similar to a primary school curriculum but has been adapted for younger children and is designed to be flexible so that staff can follow your child’s unique needs and interests.

Children in the EYFS learn by playing and exploring, being active, and through creative and critical thinking which takes place in our well equipped indoor and outdoor areas.

Progress Checks

At Learning Ladder Nursery, we carry out regular observations of children’s development and progress. These observations lead to regular assessments for each age group which are then shared and discussed with the parents. For accurate assessments, we take into account the perspective of the teachers and the parents to help plan relevant and motivating learning experiences for each child.
